  20. Installing a Client

  22. To install NetWare Lite and configure your computer as a client
  23. perform the following steps.  Note that, depending on your
  24. current setup, the installation program may skip some of the
  25. steps.

  27.  1. Insert the diskette labeled "program" into the a: (or b:)
  28.     drive.
  29.  
  30.  2. Type a:install and press enter.
  31.  
  32.  3. Verify that "Make this machine a client" is highlighted and
  33.     press enter.
  34.  
  35.  4. Type in the path of the directory where you want NetWare Lite
  36.     installed or simply press enter to accept the default.  You
  37.     may include the a: or b: drive letter if your computer does
  38.     not have a fixed disk installed.  See the fax document
  39.     "Assisting Floppy Based Clients" for more information on
  40.     installing to a floppy diskette.

  42.  5. Insert the diskette labeled "driver" into the a: drive and
  43.     press esc.
  44.  
  45.  6. Use the arrow keys to highlight the type of network card in
  46.     your machine and press enter.  If you are not sure which card
  47.     to choose refer to the hardware documentation to determine
  48.     what type of card you have or which interface it is
  49.     compatible with.
  50.  
  51.  7. A window showing default settings for your card is displayed. 
  52.     You may change these if necessary by highlighting the item
  53.     and pressing enter, then highlighting the correct value and
  54.     pressing enter.  Refer to the hardware documentation if you
  55.     are not sure what the settings should be.  When the settings
  56.     are correct press esc.

  58.  8. Answer yes or no to the "path" message.  Note that if the
  59.     C:\NWLITE directory is not in the DOS path you will have to
  60.     CD to it in order to use the net utility.  You will also have
  61.     to include the path for every net command executed at the
  62.     command line.

  64.  9. Answer yes or no to the "lastdrive" message.  Note that
  65.     LASTDRIVE should be set to g: or higher to use the NET
  66.     utility.  If you answer no you must edit the CONFIG.SYS file
  67.     to include a LASTDRIVE command and reboot before you can use
  68.     any net command.

  70. 10. NetWare Lite is now installed.  Press esc to exit the
  71.     installation program.
